Fairpoint Meeting 12/8

“As a result of concerns voiced by a number of Woodstock residents about the continued lack of high speed internet service in much of our area, FairPoint Communications will hold a public information meeting to share their plans for broadband expansion in Woodstock, Bridgewater, Pomfret and Reading – for the 457 exchange and neighboring communities. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at Woodstock’s Town Hall in the second floor meeting room from 5 – 6:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served. If you have questions on when and what service FairPoint will be making available, this is the time to ask. We look forward to seeing you on December 8th. Alison Clarkson State Representative Reading and Woodstock”

I was unable to attend the Dec. 8th meeting, but I am curious about what Fairpoint had to say. I am moving in to a house on Hewitt Hill Rd in N. Pomfret and I would like to have some idea as to whether or not we will have DSL available in the coming months. I spoke with some DSL workers back in November while they were working on the corner of Hewitt Hill Rd. and Pomfret Rd. They told me that internet would not be available for another year, but neighbors and the landlord thought it was coming January 2011. I called Fairpoint to ask for clarification and they refused to provide me any information at all. Please email at if you have any helpful info, or know who I might contact.
